February 2010 “Gracias” Update
|
|
Dear Friends,
Noe Benjamin is an eight year old boy from our elementary school. He is the only son of a young dedicated Christian family. He has suffered from some serious eye disease. His vision is almost gone, we can safely say that little Noe is legally blind. He has been with us since his preschool years. He feels safe and loved around our school. Through generous sponsorship from Christian friends, we were able to grant Noe full tuition, he pays nothing. The gratitude from his parents and encouragement that he receives from teachers and staff will truly make his life a whole lot better! “The king will reply: I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me” Matthew 25:40 NIV
January found us busy right away with preparations for our annual meeting of the VNM Board of Directors. As usual, our meeting was productive and plans to move forward are now in place. Special attention will be given this year to the inclusion of new “younger generation” members that will move the ministry into the future. Norma and Jair will seek and develop diligently the new leaders for both Vida Nueva Ministries and the church in el Ejido. Please pray for this endeavor!
Two work groups came in January: First Church of Christ, Burlington KY., and North side Christian Church from Wadsworth OH., led by Brother Robin Hart. They labored in Acapulco where the church facility is almost done! In fact, the plan is to dedicate this building, complete with parsonage, in June of this year! The congregation is doing so well there that they have started a mission church in a nearby area! Sergio reports 3 baptisms in the last month. The other group came from New Life Christian Church in Alexandria Minnesota. This group included Larry McQueen and Bob from Orlando Florida. They helped us here in Piedras Negras with various ongoing projects at our schools. This group was very productive, thank you! Norma and I made a quick trip to Plainfield Indiana, to help Mandy, our daughter move to her new home. We took the opportunity to see many friends in the area, and yes, watch the Colts game with Brother Dave Empson. Please keep in mind some of our urgent needs: Prayer for safety. 2 new computers with printers and projectors for our schools and two PA systems for our schools also. Thank you and God bless you.
